Conference Information

The Build Saskatchewan Green conference is Saskatchewan’s longest running and largest green building conference. Since the first conference in 2004, our speakers have been inspiring and educating green building professionals from across the province and beyond. Today we share a far greater understanding of the issues of sustainability related to our current building practices; the focus now should be on action. For the 8th annual BSG we’re exploring the practical side of going green and how to get there through this year’s theme: Getting Green Done! In Saskatchewan.

From the opening keynote remarks by Auden Schendler, author of Getting Green Done: Hard Truths from the Front Lines of the Sustainability Revolution, you will be challenged to face roadblocks head-on and take the much bigger steps needed to effectively fight climate change. As Vice President of Sustainability for a Colorado based alpine ski company, Auden understands first hand that getting green done often isn’t easy. His experience tackling a variety of sustainability problems demonstrates that we must be equally prepared to learn from our challenges as from our successes.

One of the BSG hallmarks is the caliber of our presenters and this year is no exception. We know that getting green done requires cutting edge knowledge so we’ve assembled some of the best speakers from across the sector to provide the most up-to-date information on sustainability in new construction, existing buildings, homes, policy and technical issues.

Canada Green Building Council

Established in 2002, the Canada Green Building Council has become the voice of Canada’s green building industry. It represents more than 2,200 national corporate members and some 12,600 individual members involved in the design, construction and operation of buildings. In addition, 8 regional chapters across Canada have several thousand members.

CaGBC membership represents many groups involved in green building and consists of professional firms, retail, construction and products, real estate owners, managers and tenants, academia, research and policy, non-profit organizations and industry associations, utilities, and financial and support services firms.

The CaGBC, although typically associated with the LEED rating system, is evolving in step with industry change through programs such as: GreenUP – Canada’s Building Performance Program; The Living Building Challenge – Beyond LEED; Smart Growth - Policies and Principles for Sustainable Communities; and an expanding list of educational offerings.

Canada Green Building Council – Saskatchewan Chapter

The initial Build Saskatchewan Green conferences served to bring together local green building stakeholders and led to the establishment of the Saskatchewan Chapter of the Canada Green Building Council in 2006. Today the chapter is the hub of our local green building sector with outreach to approximately 400 members, industry representatives and affiliated organizations. Our green building professionals and firms influence the vast majority of Saskatchewan’s green building projects and are the driving force behind wider adoption of truly sustainable building practices.

Your sponsorship contribution will support the annual Build Saskatchewan Green conference as well as the chapter’s mission to lead and accelerate the transformation to high-performing, healthy green buildings, homes and communities. Delegates at BSG include key decision makers representing all facets of the built environment from both the public and private sectors.
